DAVID LYON studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music and Bristol University. As a student, he won the Eric Coates Prize for his Divertimento for small Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Society Prize for his Piano Concerto in one movement. His many compositions since have covered a wide spectrum, winning a variety of awards and receiving international broadcasts and public performances. David also teaches/ lectures and is an accomplished jazz pianist.
Among his works are a series of ‘audience adventures’, mostly written for the Milton Keynes Festival in collaboration with Teresa Collard. Several of these have proved popular with Classical Roadshow audiences, including ‘Game’, ‘Snakes and Ladders’ and ‘Battle of Trafalgar’. Many of David’s orchestral works have been commercially recorded, including an exclusive Marco Polo disc with David Lloyd-Jones conducting the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
