Opportunities for Orchestras & Concert Halls

The Classical Road Show aims to produce concerts in as many parts of Britain as possible, and invites collaboration with orchestras, promoters and education authorities. The tasks we share are:

  • Finding the Audience Where there is no regular procedure for finding an audience, CRS will help to establish a data base of participating schools by lionising with local education authorities and by direct approach to schools within the region.

  • Press & Publicity CRS will supply material for press releases and will help identify useful media outlets.

  • Financing the project CRS will prepare a project budget and if appropriate, will seek grant aid from the regional Arts Board and from local authorities. CRS will actively seek commercial sponsorship for projects which have been agreed by orchestras or other promoters and would normally expect to find approximately half of the projected loss, after grants and Box Office income have been off-set against expenses.

  • Hiring the Concert Hall Normally undertaken by the orchestra or promoter.

  • Hiring the Conductor Hilary Davan Wetton or Richard Brown will normally conduct these concerts; a deputy may be appointed, by agreement between the CRS and the orchestra or promoter.

  • Hiring the Orchestra/ Producer/ Narrator By agreement between the CRS and the  orchestra or promoter.

  • Orchestral music hire; royalties negotiated by CRS.

  • Teachers' Pack Songs and accompaniment; recorder parts; cross-curricular projects;-
one set to be sent to every participating school, provided by CRS.

  • Out-reach Programme of schools' visits. Visits by CRS professional musicians  arranged, or members of the orchestra, by agreement.

  • Hire of costumes and scenery (if applicable) Some available free from CRS; otherwise  by agreement.

  • Programme Printing Normally produced by the orchestra or promoter; some material  supplied by CRS.

  • Concert administration Seating plans, distribution of tickets, Front-of-House;-  Normally undertaken by the orchestra or promoter, but CRS will undertake to organise these elements at cost price.
